This is one of the most beautiful ways to cook pears - it makes them velvety and taste of caramel. In this recipe a thick, glossy, buttery caramel forms under the pears, which makes them extra delicious. Serve with ice cream, custard or on yoghurt or porridge.

Feel free to experiment with different spices - try cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice or clove.

If you want more caramel under your pears, then add more butter and honey!

Cornersmith's tips

The firmer the pears, the longer they will take to cook. Adjust your cooking times depending on the ripeness of your pears. If you want more caramel at the bottom of the pan, add more honey and butter.
