Glowing Gut Smoothie

Plan

Chia seeds, once they’ve swelled, boast a smooth and satisfying texture rich with soothing mucilage gel. They contain a good mix of soluble and insoluble fibre that helps promote digestion, cleanse the system and keep you regular. This smoothie also has other fibre-rich ingredients, including berries, spinach, and green banana flour, which provides the resistant starch you need to help produce short-chain fatty acids such as butyrate, an anti-inflammatory important for keeping our gut lining healthy and our skin glowing.

CARLA’S TIP You can find green banana flour at most health food stores and even some supermarkets. If you can’t get your hands on it, swap for some potato starch: it’s also a great source of resistant starch.
